09.05.2008:

In the frame of the development of our Cremer Care portfolio - a new product called "Virgin Baobab oil" is now available.

The baobab tree is found throughout Africa, generally at low altitudes and in the hotter, drier areas. The tree may grow to 25 meters high and reach up to 20 meters in circumference. The oldest is reputed to have lived 6000 years.

The baobab tree is known as monkey bread tree and fondly called the "tree of life". From leaves to the roots, every part can be used "to treat and prevent".

In particular the kernels contained within the Baobab fruit pod yield a rich, golden, scented oil traditionally used by African women to protect their skin and hair against the harsh African savannah environment.

The oil contains almost equal % of saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Specific interest is the presence of linoleic acid, which cannot be synthesized by the human body. Virgin Baobab oil is also rich in vitamins A, D, E and unsaponifiables.

Classified as semi drying oil, its stability against oxidation is very good (up to 3 years in closed container).

Baobab oil is very effective against dry skin, strengthens nails and gives brightness and shine to dry hair. In addition it is used as massage oil or in sun care due to its moisturizing properties and natural UV filter.
